ASCO 230

The Series 230 automatic transfer switch consists of an intelligent controller and a modular load break switch which automatically transfers the load to the emergency power source when it detects the normal power source under/over voltage, under/over frequency, or phase loss. The switch has three operational positions (Source I, Center-off, Source II). The series 230 is available in 5 different frame sizes up to 800A and can operate in multiple control modes including automatic, remote, and manual operation.

Application
The Series 320 transfer switch is available in single and three-phase configurations up to 80A, and for higher power applications in three-phase configurations up to 800A, up to 415 volts and for both 50 and 60 Hz. Typical applications include commercial and residential buildings, hospitals, telecom, subway and transportation, data centers, military, and fire pumps.

Where would you be without a constant flow of electrical power? We often take for granted that power will always be around when we need it.

In reality, power failures are common, and when the power goes out, your business suffers. Power failures are unpredictable. They can occur at any time and for any number of reasons — a bolt of lightning, a power surge, a blackout, an accident or even equipment failure. They come without warning and often at the most inconvenient times.

It’s for this reason that most businesses and other entities have invested in emergency power backup systems. Typically, the system consists of an engine generator and an automatic transfer switch (ATS) that transfers the load form the utility to the generator.

An ATS with built-in control logic monitors your normal power supply and senses interruptions and unacceptable abnormalities. When the utility power fails, the ATS automatically starts the engine generator and transfers the load after the generator has reached proper voltage and frequency. This happens in a matter of seconds after the power failure occurs. When the utility power has been restored, the ATS will automatically switch the load back and, after a time delay, shut down the engine generator. With an ATS, you are protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

High-speed transfer of loads between alternate sources of power, regardless of ampacity size, is achievable by a reliable, field-proven solenoid operating mechanism. When combined with a programmable microprocessor controller with keypad and LCD display, they offer the most advanced method of transferring all types of loads, such as motors, electronic drives, UPS’s and microprocessor-based systems, 4000 SERIES Power Transfer Switches are available open or enclosed, in ampacity sizes from 30 through 400 amperes with a limited selection of optional accessories.

• Conventional two-position transfer configuration, plus closed and delayed transition modes of operation. All configurations are available with either automatic or non-automatic control.
• UL listed to 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment & CSA certified to CSA 22.2 No.178- 1978 Automatic Transfer Switches.
• Qualified to IEC 60947-6-1, CE marked (optional). (Limited to certain accessories.)
• Rated up to 600 VAC, 30 through 4000 amperes. Reliable and field-proven solenoid operating mechanism.
